(Italian, 1452 - 1519)

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was born in the region of Florence, Italy in 1452. He was one of the greatest figures of the Renaissance. Throughout his life, Leonardo has made special contributions to fields including invention, painting, architecture, science, mathematics, engineering, and more.

Leonardo is famous primarily as a painter. He received his art education in the studio of the well-known painter Andrea del Verrocchio. And he created world-renowned masterpieces including the oil painting Mona Lisa. Most of his early time was in Milan and later in Rome, Bologna, and Venice. Leonardo spent the last three years of his life in France and passed away in 1519.
