The Artist Bio:

Thomas W Schaller is a multi-award-winning artist, architect, and author based in New York City. He is the winner of the Alpha Rho Chi Medal at OSU, the Graham Foundation Grant, and the two-time Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize. And he is also the author of three books, The Art of Architectural Drawing, Architect of Light, and Architecture in Watercolor (winner of an American Institute of Architecture Award of Merit). Among them, his new book, Thomas W Schaller: Architect of Light is published by Penguin Random House. His best-selling DVD, Watercolor: The Power of Design is published by Streamline Media. And his new ground-breaking interactive online course is hosted by Terracotta LLC.

The artist Thomas is in demand internationally as an exhibitor, instructor, juror, and speaker as well. His recent work has been featured in prestigious international master’s exhibitions in over 25 countries around the world. He was awarded the Best in Show, AIP36, 2021, a finalist for the Architecture Drawing Prize, London 2021, The Abu Rawash Master Award 2019 and was a finalist for the Lynx Prize for Contemporary Art. He has written for many international art publications and has been a demonstrator at PACE, Watercolor Live, The Roman Watercolor Society, The Graham Foundation Chicago, Harvard University, the National Watercolor Society, the California Art Club, the Pushkin Museum of Art, Moscow, etc. His works are included in many public collections, such as the Watermark Museum in Fabriano, Italy, The Tchoban Museum in Berlin, Germany, The Johhan Museum in Shanghai, China, The Museum of Watercolor in Mexico City, Mexico, The Pacific Arts Foundation in Newport Beach, CA, USA, and private collections worldwide.

He, furthermore, is a Signature Member of many arts organizations, including the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and was elected a member of the International Masters of Watercolor Alliance in 2019. He was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of American Watercolor Weekly and Streamline Publishing, and was elected Artist Member of the California Art Club and the Salmagundi Art Club, New York City. He is President Emeritus of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators and a founding member of the group of North American Watercolor Artists.
