The Artist Bio:

Dr. Chen Zhengxin (aka Chin Heng Tan) was born in Singapore. He is a Chinese medicine practitioner and a painter. While diagnosing pulses, acupuncture, adjusting bones, and pulling tendons to relieve patients’ suffering, he also composes music, mixes pigments, applies colors, and lays out beautiful scenery on the canvas to use another method and way to bring visual enjoyment and spiritual pleasure to his patients and viewers.

Since childhood, Dr. Chen has been fond of literature, music, and painting. In visual art, he learned sketching, ink painting, and watercolor painting from Wang Ziqiu, a senior painter. While studying, he took art classes and participated in many exhibitions and competitions representing the school.

The four fundamental methods of diagnosing and treating diseases in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with a long history are "Looking, Hearing (or smelling), Asking, and Feeling (taking the pulse)". And the first of this theory is to look; Looking means observing the complexion. It is a visual experience. So from a certain perspective, TCM is also an art. Therefore, the basic elements such as tranquility, serenity, stability, balance, relaxation, harmony, calmness, etc. can be seen in artist Dr. Chen's paintings. Moreover, his paintings also contain the visual symphony notes and emotional poetic rhythms of the encounter between Eastern and Western cultures.
